Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Heavy Equipment Technician (Lead) to join our team. This leadership role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment, including construction machinery, farm machinery, and OEM equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic knowledge, along with leadership capabilities to mentor junior technicians and ensure high-quality service. Experience with Aerial Equipment is preferred. Some tools provided.

Responsibilities

• Lead troubleshooting and repair efforts on heavy equipment including aerial Equipment.
• Perform detailed diagnostics using schematics, OEM manuals, electrical diagnostics, automotive diagnostics, and hydraulic systems analysis.
• Conduct mechanical repairs such as brake repair, transmission servicing, suspension adjustments, alignment, HVAC systems maintenance, and diesel engine repair.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering tools, and other maintenance tools to execute repairs efficiently.
• Oversee equipment fabrication and assembly tasks as needed for custom repairs or modifications.
• Maintain detailed service records and ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
• Provide mentorship to junior technicians; assist in training on heavy equipment operation and maintenance best practices.
• Ensure all work complies with safety protocols related to heavy lifting, tire service, air brake systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Coordinate with the team to prioritize repairs and maintenance schedules for minimal downtime.
• Support customer service efforts by providing technical expertise during client interactions.

Requirements

• Valid Drivers License
• 3-5 years experience
• Proven dealership experience or extensive background in heavy equipment maintenance is preferred. Aerial Equipment experience prefers.
• Strong knowledge of OEM standards for or similar to Genie, JLG, SkyTrack, and Haullotte
• Proficiency in reading schematics and performing electrical diagnostics on complex systems.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Experience with welding, fabrication, assembly, hydraulics systems repair, diesel engine diagnostics & repair (including diesel mechanics), air brake systems, suspension alignment, HVAC systems servicing for heavy equipment.
• Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools for various repair tasks.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during repairs or parts replacement.
• Prior experience as a service technician or mechanic specializing in construction or industrial (aerial) equipment is highly desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving skills combined with customer service experience to ensure client satisfaction.
