Job Title
Education/Certification Required: High School graduate or G.E.D. Experience Required: One year as police dispatcher or security/fire alarm dispatcher. Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to operate two-way radio system, personal computer, printer, and fax machine. Technology Proficiency: Level 2 Applied (use of) Computer operations Software productivity tools (i.e., Microsoft Office) E-mail Printers Job-related financial and student management systems Multimedia tools Electronic file management Technology Applications/TEKS Knowledge of District Acceptable Use Policy and Technology Ethics/Etiquette Personal Qualifications: Ability to communicate in a professional and efficient manner. Ability to handle stressful or volatile situations. Ability to delegate responsibility and direct resources to obtain problem resolution.
Function Responsible for the receiving and dispatching of calls for police service. Also responsible for the monitoring of the District's fire and security systems. Reports To: the Chief of Police or his/her designee.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and dispatch calls for police service.
- Handle requests for criminal histories, wanted information, vehicle registration information, and other law enforcement related requests for information.
- Maintain required logs related to requests for information.
- Operate the computer aided dispatch system (CAD).
- Receives all incoming security/fire alarm signals to Central Station. Interprets code and take appropriate action to dispatch fire department, police, security, or CCISD personnel to location.
- Receives trouble calls in system and develop work orders for service technicians.
- Monitors all openings and closings of schools to determine if there is a breach in the system
- Receives calls and responds to complaints regarding security/fire alarm system.
- Maintains logs and summaries to track security/fire alarm activity.
- Maintains all files and documentation of incoming signals.
- Directs technicians to emergency service calls of security/fire alarm systems.
- Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police or his/her designee.
Salary: AUXS/606: $17.45 minimum/hour (individual salary calculation is based on applicable experience) See the CCISD Salary Schedule handbook for information regarding initial salary placement. Days: 245
