Company: Concrete Pump Partners — commercial and residential concrete placement

Location: Nashville, TN — onsite, with occasional travel to branch locations

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Direct reports: Accounting manager (including AP, AR, billing)

Compensation: Competitive base + annual incentive

Why This Role Exists

Our accounting function is in good shape. The books close on time, job costing is in place, and the numbers are reliable, audited annually and reported to lenders quarterly. What the company requires now is a financial leader who turns clean data into better decisions: higher gross margin per crew-day, tighter bid-to-actual discipline, smarter capital deployment across locations, improved cash and leverage management and a leadership team that argues from evidence instead of instinct. This is a seat at the table, not a scorekeeper role. The CFO is expected to challenge operations, sales, and the CEO — with numbers, in real time, before decisions get made.

Core Responsibilities

1. Profitability and Unit Economics

• Own the economics of a job: labor, fuel, and supplies by job type, and regular maintenance/repair costs

• Drive margin analysis down to the operator, branch and area levels. Make it visible to the people who can change it.

2. FP&A and Forecasting

• Own a driver-based financial model: crews, crew-days, jobs, yards placed, utilization.

• Rolling 13-week cash forecast and an annual plan with monthly reforecast.

• Scenario analysis for weather, cement and aggregate price movement, labor availability, and demand cycles.

3. Leadership Voice and Operating Cadence

• Serve as a full peer on the leadership team — expected to work with the CEO, ops, and sales when the numbers do not support the plan.

• Run the monthly business review and hold the leadership team to the operating cadence.

• Translate financial reality into language superintendents and crew leads act on.

4. Cash, Working Capital, and Risk

• Lead the billing, AR, and AP functions via the Accounting Manager — you own billing velocity, pay application accuracy, lien rights and notice compliance, AR aging, and vendor payment discipline.

• Manage banking, line of credit, and equipment financing relationships.

• Own the surety and bonding relationship, and the insurance program including EMR-driven premium exposure.

5. Capital Allocation

• Manage relationships and terms with current and future lenders

• Build the framework for fleet decisions — buy, trade, or lease and how to finance — with cost per operating hour and replacement timing.

• Evaluate crew expansion, new branch or new market entry, and any acquisition opportunity with a consistent return standard.

6. Systems, Controls, and Team

• Lead and develop all team members; keep the close fast and clean while shifting your own time to forward-looking work.

• Assess the transactional teams early — billing and collections are where cash is won or lost in this business, and they need a leader, not just a supervisor.

• Own the ERP and job-costing stack and any system upgrade or migration.

• Maintain accounting, internal controls, and the annual review or audit.

Qualifications

Required

• 10+ years of progressive finance leadership, including ownership of FP&A in an operating business.

• Deep command of job costing and components.

• Demonstrated record of driving margin improvement — not just reporting on it.

• Experience managing and negotiating banking, lender, and surety or bonding relationships.

• Direct experience leading transactional finance teams — billing, AR, and AP — in a project-based business.

• Ability to hold your own with operators: credible on a jobsite, not only in a conference room.

• Willingness to be direct with the CEO and the leadership team.

Preferred

• Commercial/home services background, or specialty trade contracting.

• Experience with financing of heavy equipment, and related accounting and analysis.

• Multi-site or multi-branch experience with location-level P&L accountability.

• Experience in a business with scale (CPP has close to 300 employees)

• CPA, MBA a plus
