The Information Specialist is enthusiastic, patient, and committed to providing excellent customer service and is comfortable working with the public and providing technology-related assistance.In this role you will:Assist customers with library card registration and checking out and returning library materials.Assist in preparation, delivery, and receipt of Library materials; receive payment from customers.Provide technology assistance to customers with Library equipment.Assist with daily housekeeping operations, projects, and opening and closing of the building.Provide passport and notary services to library customers.Assist with programming as needed.You will need to be:Friendly, patient, and able to build relationships at all levels.Able to see the big picture and promote consistency and excellence of service.Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to questions from customers and staffFlexible, positive, and willing to work with staff and colleagues to successfully overcome challenges.Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work with competing tasks and priorities.You will need to have:At least six months of customer service-related experience, or an associate's degree, or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills.Strong organizational skills.Ability to learn and use technology as the Library continues to evolve.The ability to speak publicly in order to execute unique and exciting events.Benefits include:Competitive salary range starting at $36,636/yearMedical, dental, and life insurancePaid vacation, holidays, and sick daysPension plan through the Employees Retirement System of the City of St. LouisPartial tuition reimbursement for approved coursesProfessional developmentHours for this position are:Tuesdays and Wednesdays 11:30 am - 8:15 pm; Thursdays 8:45 am- 5:30 pm; Fridays and Saturdays 8:45 am - 5:15 pm.
