Training Coordinator
Department: Training Dept / Culture and Professional Development
Reports To: Sr. Training Director
Position Summary
The Training Coordinator is responsible for the hands-on execution, coordination, and administration of employee safety training, new employee orientation (NEO), drug testing programs, and related EHS reporting and recordkeeping.
This role supports a growing workforce and increasing project activity by ensuring required training, certifications, onboarding documentation, and compliance records are completed accurately and on time. The Training Coordinator works closely with Safety, Payroll, Operations, project teams, DOT, and employees to reduce administrative burden, maintain accurate records, coordinate training needs, and prevent compliance gaps.
The position is a key resource for NEO and onboarding, EHS safety reporting and metrics, employee training, and drug testing.
Key Responsibilities
New Employee Orientation & Onboarding
- Conduct Safety New Employee Orientation (NEO) classes and provide employees with required safety and compliance information.
- Coordinate new hire paperwork and documentation with Payroll and other appropriate departments.
- Manage orientation surveys, compile results, and support related reporting and continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensure required onboarding training, documentation, and certifications are completed and appropriately recorded.
- Assist employees with access to required training platforms and systems.
Training Administration & Delivery
- Assign, coordinate, and track required employee training across multiple learning and compliance platforms.
- Monitor training completion and follow up on outstanding or expiring requirements to help prevent compliance gaps.
- Coordinate training requests from safety professionals, project teams, and other internal stakeholders.
- Serve as a qualified First Aid, CPR, and AED trainer and facilitate classes as needed.
- Develop, write, maintain, and distribute toolbox talks and other safety training communications.
- Record employee training time in the designated field log system.
- Enter, maintain, and update employee certifications and training records within EHS systems.
- Coordinate training class logistics, including scheduling, room requirements, meals, materials, equipment, and other participant needs.
- Maintain accurate training records and assist with training-related reporting and metrics.
- Support employee access and troubleshooting across training platforms.
Drug & Alcohol Testing Program
- Administer company drug and alcohol testing processes in accordance with applicable company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate quarterly random testing programs.
- Coordinate pre-employment, post-accident, DOT, reinstatement, and other required drug and alcohol testing.
- Maintain accurate and confidential testing documentation and records.
- Coordinate with employees, managers, testing providers, and other appropriate parties to ensure testing requirements are completed within required timeframes.
- Support reporting and documentation necessary to demonstrate compliance with applicable testing requirements.
EHS Compliance, Reporting & Program Support
- Manage administrative requirements associated with the company's respirator program, including training, documentation, and compliance tracking.
- Enter and maintain certifications and other required employee information within EHS systems.
- Support EHS safety reporting, metrics, data tracking, and recordkeeping.
- Monitor training, certification, and compliance records for missing, incomplete, or expiring requirements.
- Maintain organized and accurate records to support internal reviews, audits, and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the MOM liaison for project clinics and associated documentation.
- Oversee administration of the employee recognition program.
- Provide administrative and operational support to Safety and other manager-level roles as needed.
- Identify potential training or compliance gaps and communicate issues to appropriate leadership for timely resolution.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience supporting safety training, employee onboarding, EHS administration, construction operations, or a related function.
- Experience maintaining detailed employee, training, certification, or compliance records.
- Ability to facilitate training and communicate effectively with employees at varying levels of the organization.
- Strong computer skills and ability to work across multiple training, compliance, and recordkeeping systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and recurring compliance requirements.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information appropriately.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required to support training and operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Human Resources, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience working in construction, concrete, specialty contracting, or another safety-sensitive industry.
- Experience administering DOT and non-DOT drug and alcohol testing programs.
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED instructor credentials or ability to obtain required instructor certification.
- Experience with EHS management systems, learning management systems, or other employee training platforms.
- Familiarity with OSHA requirements and construction safety practices.
- Experience coordinating new employee orientation programs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of employee training, safety documentation, and compliance tracking practices.
- Understanding of drug and alcohol testing processes, including DOT-regulated testing.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills with the ability to effectively conduct employee training.
- Excellent organizational, recordkeeping, and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize missing, incomplete, or expiring compliance requirements.
- Ability to coordinate multiple training sessions, employees, projects, systems, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Effective written communication skills, including the ability to develop toolbox talks and employee communications.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with Safety, Payroll, Operations, project teams, employees, and external providers.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when working with sensitive employee and compliance information.
- Ability to learn and effectively navigate multiple technology platforms.
- Proactive approach to following up on outstanding requirements and resolving administrative or compliance issues.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- Ability to work in both office and construction/project environments.
- Ability to conduct classroom and hands-on training for employees.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods as required.
- Ability to travel to project sites, offices, training locations, clinics, or testing facilities as business needs require.
- May occasionally be required to lift, carry, or move training materials and equipment.
- When visiting active project sites, must be able to comply with all applicable site-specific safety requirements and use required personal protective equipment.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: Competitive Annual Salary based on qualifications, skills, training, experience, and location.
