The nurse will manage typical diagnoses such as chest pain, COPD, abdominal pain, pneumonia, and urinary tract infections. The nurse must be skilled in titrating drips as required for stepdown care. Charge nurse support is available on the unit. Registered nurses are required to interpret telemetry strips in collaboration with monitor techs. The unit functions with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:3 for stepdown and 1:4 to 1:6 for floor patients. Nurses may be pulled to other floors or stepdown units as needed. The dress code includes wearing royal blue scrubs. Holiday scheduling is integrated with permanent staff holiday rotations. Weekend shifts are required, with two weekends scheduled in a rotation. There is no call or standby requirement for this position.
