Travel Registered Nurse Emergency Room Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 Year Experience Required License: Active Compact LicenseRequired Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: First time travelers not accepted. Traveler must be open to floating to different campuses. Weekends required: Every other. Description: All previous permanent employees must be separated from the health system for a minimum of three months to qualify for a travel position. Typical emergency department patients include adults and pediatrics. Responsibilities include ambulance triage, ED holding, and lobby triage. The unit consists of 11 hallway beds and a total of 40 beds. Procedures include breathing treatments, chest tube setup and care, CPAP/BiPAP, and procedure sedation. Other duties include rapid sequence intubation, trach care, and care of ventilated patients. Skills required include blood and blood products administration, cardioversion, and defibrillation. Must be proficient in critical care procedures such as CRRT and dialysis. Responsibilities may also include obtaining 12 lead EKGs and rapid infuser usage. Patient ratios for nights are between four to five patients per nurse. The average daily census is approximately 115 patients. The unit supports various patient age groups, including neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and unit secretaries. Documentation may involve experience with charting systems like Epic. Previous charge experience is preferred but not mandatory.
