Finance Leader- Mechanical & Plumbing Construction

Best Mechanical is looking for the next Finance Leader to help continue our accelerated growth. This role goes beyond traditional accounting and bookkeeping responsibilities. We are looking for a strategic partner who can help drive financial performance, improve operational efficiency, and support the company's long-term growth.

This individual will oversee accounting, cash management, billing, collections, financial reporting, forecasting, and financial controls while helping leadership make informed business decisions. The role will work closely with operations, project management, and executive leadership to ensure the company remains financially healthy and positioned for growth. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, capable of managing day-to-day financial operations while building scalable systems and processes for the future.

Primary Objectives:

● Lead all accounting and financial operations for the company, including month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.

● Manage cash flow planning, forecasting, and working capital to ensure the company maintains strong financial health.

● Oversee customer billing, collections, accounts receivable, and accounts payable processes.

● Ensure project costs, labor costs, equipment costs, and overhead expenses are accurately tracked and reported.

● Develop financial dashboards, KPIs, and reporting tools that provide leadership with actionable business insights.

● Support annual budgeting, strategic planning, and long-range financial forecasting.

● Oversee vendor relationships, payment processes, and financial controls.

● Lead contract administration support, including review of financial terms, insurance requirements, and payment provisions.

● Manage prequalification submissions and financial documentation required by customers and general contractors.

● Oversee fleet acquisition planning, equipment financing, and major capital expenditures.

● Support risk management initiatives, insurance programs, claims management, and compliance requirements.

● Develop and maintain company policies, financial procedures, and process documentation.

● Partner with leadership on software implementation, process improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives.

● Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, banks, insurance providers, and legal advisors.

● Provide strategic financial guidance to leadership and serve as a key contributor to business growth initiatives.

Requirements:

● Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.

● CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.

● Minimum 7–10 years of progressive accounting or finance leadership experience.

● Construction industry experience is strongly preferred, particularly in mechanical, specialty contracting, or industrial construction environments.

● Strong understanding of job costing, work-in-progress reporting, revenue recognition, and construction accounting principles.

● Experience managing cash flow, forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting.

● Demonstrated ability to build systems, improve processes, and drive operational accountability.

● Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

● Experience working with ERP, accounting, and project management software platforms.

● Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution.
