Media Archive Coordinator (National Geographic)

Job Summary:

The Media Archive Coordinator applies professional knowledge of digital asset management, metadata standards, and content organization principles to support the stewardship of enterprise media assets within Atris. This position evaluates media assets and associated documentation, analyzes metadata quality, conducts research, and collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to improve content discoverability, accessibility, and long-term value. Through metadata enrichment, quality assurance, workflow analysis, and problem-solving activities, the role helps ensure enterprise media assets are accurately represented, effectively managed, and positioned for reuse across the organization.

Responsibilities:

• This position supports the management and optimization of enterprise media assets by analyzing metadata, evaluating content readiness, conducting quality assurance reviews, and applying established digital asset management standards.
• Responsibilities include researching and resolving metadata and documentation issues, collaborating with archive, editorial, production, rights, and technical teams, and recommending improvements that enhance content organization, discoverability, and accessibility.
• The role also contributes to process improvement initiatives, standards development, and workflow analysis efforts that support the long-term management and value of enterprise media collections.

Basic Qualifications:

• 1 + years’ experience working with digital content, metadata, content management systems, databases, records management systems, or related information management environments.
• Knowledge of digital asset management principles, metadata concepts, taxonomy structures, or information organization practices.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to evaluate information, identify inconsistencies, and make recommendations based on findings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
• Ability to learn new technologies, systems, and business processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with Digital Asset Management (DAM), Media Asset Management (MAM), archival, library, records management, or content management platforms.
• Familiarity with media metadata standards, taxonomy development, controlled vocabularies, or content classification methodologies.
• Experience performing content analysis, data quality reviews, metadata enrichment, or workflow assessment activities.
• Interest in archives, media operations, knowledge management, information science, or digital content strategy.
• Familiarity with media production, rights management, archival research, or content lifecycle management.

Required Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in library science, Information Management, Media Studies, Communications, Archival Studies, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent relevant work experience.

The hiring range for this position in Washington, D.C. is $54,000 to $72,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
