Greenhouse Technician

Objective The responsibility of the Greenhouse Technician is to execute all tasks delegated by the Crew Leads or the growing facility management in a timely and accurate manner. This includes demonstrating and executing the proper techniques of pinching, spacing and watering methods across all functional areas as well as supporting the movement of inventory and the shipping process. Communication with Crew Leaders and other growing facility management is required to correctly receive and complete the daily task lists on a daily basis. Receive and execute all items on daily task list in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring all actions are completed in accordance with company procedures Utilize training techniques to complete all tasks across functional areas as needed, utilizing the production methods and processes including spacing and pinching techniques, watering methods as well as the understanding of various products and stages of the growing cycle Execute the movement and selection of products through the shipping process, loading trucks in a timely and accurate manner Communicate any production or safety related issues to the Crew Leader or Head Grower in a timely manner Complete all other tasks as assigned by Management COMPETENCIES Verbal Communication Maintenance of Productive Team Relationships Strong Work Ethic Well Organized PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School diploma or GED required. Associates degree in horticulture, floriculture or other related disipline as well as prior experience in the horticultural industry or work in a growing facility preferred. Previous experience working with annuals, herbs, veggies and perennials preferred but not required. Ability to effectively communicate in English. WORK ENVIRONMENT This job operates in an active growing facility environment. This job may be either indoors or outdoors or both. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position requires frequent standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and / or crawling. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK Flexible hours. Days and hours of work vary by schedule and season. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
