Quality Control Technician I

Job Summary The Quality Control Technician I performs physical, visual, and functional evaluations of incoming materials, in-process sub‑assemblies, and finished goods within a highly regulated (FDA/ISO) medical device environment. The role involves generating inspection data, recording results, maintaining accurate logs, drafting detailed reports, and ensuring products and processes meet industry regulations and company guidelines. Additional responsibilities include handling nonconformance, customer complaint investigations, contributing to projects, and collaborating with operations personnel to minimize recurring problems. Duties & Responsibilities Perform QC inspections using industry‑appropriate tools and methods. Interpret engineering drawings into specifications to establish inspection criteria. Document results by completing inspection records prior to final review/approval. Maintain calibrated equipment and coordinate the overall calibration program. Perform other project‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate degree (AA) or equivalent, or 1–2 years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with FDA/ISO regulations and guidelines for the medical device industry. Proficiency with mechanical, calibrated inspection tooling. Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) for reading engineering drawings and interpreting dimensional and tolerance requirements. Knowledge of 5S principles to maintain standardized workflows and workspace. Knowledge of Six Sigma to contribute to process improvement projects. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and NetSuite. Ability to learn quickly, follow instructions, and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Treat colleagues with respect and consideration, regardless of the situation. Apply feedback to improve product quality and workflows. Balance and coordinate team projects and individual responsibilities. Handle change, delays, or unexpected events effectively. Experience with technical writing is preferred. Physical Demands & Work Environment Work at least 40 hours per week. Use keyboard, mouse, and computer for up to 7 hours per day. Use telephone for approximately 10 minutes per day. Lift and/or move at least 50 pounds. Remain in a stationary position throughout the day. Move about inside and outside the premises.
