Cardiothoracic Surgeon

Position Summary Full‑time academic congenital heart surgeon for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The appointment is open‑rank, open‑track and may be offered as a fixed‑term or tenure/tenure track appointment. The candidate will collaborate closely with the current congenital heart surgeon and the broader congenital heart team. Responsibilities Perform neonatal cardiac surgery, pediatric heart failure, transplantation, ECMO, and adult congenital surgery, delivering high‑quality clinical care. Participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows. Engage in research activities, including clinical trials, outcomes/health services research, basic science, translational science, ethics, education, and global surgery research, in alignment with departmental priorities. Minimum Education & Experience Requirements MD or DO degree. Current North Carolina medical license or eligibility for application. Preferred Qualifications Completion of an ACGME‑approved Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency and Congenital Cardiac Surgery fellowship. Demonstrated expertise in all aspects of congenital cardiac surgery. Special Physical/Mental Requirements None specified.
