We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a contract assignment supporting an accounting team in Wisconsin. This role will contribute to day-to-day accounting operations for multiple entities in a hybrid, flexible work environment while helping maintain accurate financial records and timely reporting. The position is well suited for an accounting specialist who is comfortable balancing recurring close activities, reconciliations, and analytical review in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities:
• Record and post accounting entries to keep financial activity current and properly classified across several entities.
• Reconcile bank accounts and key balance sheet accounts each month, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing account activity, verifying accuracy, and supporting reliable financial data.
• Assist with month-end close by preparing schedules, analyzing results, and helping ensure deadlines are met.
• Examine fluctuations in financial performance and research unusual items to support accurate reporting.
• Prepare account analyses and contribute to internal financial reporting for leadership and stakeholders.
• Partner with external accounting resources as responsibilities are brought into the internal team structure.
• Use Excel to compare results, organize data, and support accounting analysis and special reporting needs.
• Contribute to process improvement efforts and additional accounting projects aimed at strengthening controls and efficiency.
• Help ensure accounting records are complete, accurate, and aligned with established policies and procedures.• At least 3 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.
• Hands-on experience preparing journal entries, completing reconciliations, and maintaining general ledger accounts.
• Solid knowledge of month-end close procedures and core accounting principles.
• Ability to manage work independently while prioritizing responsibilities across multiple entities or business units.
• Strong attention to detail with clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Enterprise, Microsoft Excel, and Concur.
• Experience supporting corporate tax, sales tax, or related tax accounting activities is preferred.
• Background in multi-entity accounting environments is advantageous, and senior living industry software experience is a plus.
