At Movement Schools, we believe that all means all — and our Exceptional Children's (EC) Paraprofessionals are essential to making that belief real every single day. Movement Schools is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and scholar-centered EC Paraprofessional for an immediate opening at our North Carolina campus.

This role works directly alongside our EC teachers and school leadership to provide individualized instructional and behavioral support to scholars receiving special education services. Candidates with Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) experience are strongly preferred and will be given priority consideration.

These are immediate hires. We are looking for candidates who are ready to show up, build relationships with scholars, and make a difference starting now.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You will support our EC scholars with instruction, behavioral intervention, and the individualized support outlined in each scholar's IEP and behavior support plan.

Behavioral Support & ABA Implementation

• Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and ABA-based strategies under the supervision of the EC teacher and/or Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

• Use evidence-based ABA techniques — including discrete trial training (DTT), natural environment teaching (NET), positive reinforcement, and prompting hierarchies — to support scholar skill development

• Collect accurate and consistent behavioral data including frequency, duration, and ABC (Antecedent-Behavior-Consequence) recording as directed

• Implement de-escalation strategies and crisis prevention protocols with calm, consistency, and care

• Support scholars in developing communication, self-regulation, adaptive, and social skills

• Collaborate with the BCBA and EC team to adjust strategies based on data and scholar progress

Instructional Support

• Work one-on-one and in small groups with scholars receiving special education services under the direction of the EC teacher

• Implement instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications as outlined in each scholar's IEP

• Support scholars during core instruction, specials, transitions, and all school activities

• Reinforce skills taught by the EC teacher through structured practice and positive reinforcement

Daily Living & Physical Support

• Assist scholars with daily living activities, personal care, mobility, and other physical support needs as required by individual IEPs

• Support scholars during meals, restroom routines, and transitions with dignity and respect

• Maintain a safe, structured, and predictable environment that supports scholars with sensory and behavioral needs

Collaboration & Compliance

• Collaborate with the EC teacher, BCBA, related service providers, and school leadership to support scholar goals

• Participate in IEP meetings, behavior review meetings, and professional development as requested

• Maintain strict confidentiality of all scholar records and special education documentation in compliance with FERPA and IDEA

• Complete all required data collection, documentation, and compliance tasks accurately and on time

We need someone who is skilled in behavioral support, patient under pressure, and genuinely committed to the success of scholars with the most complex needs.

• Experienced in ABA therapy, RBT practice, or behavioral support in a school or clinical setting

• Calm, consistent, and skilled at responding to challenging behaviors with evidence-based strategies

• Compassionate and scholar-centered — you believe every child is capable of growth with the right support

• A strong collaborator who works effectively with teachers, BCBAs, families, and school leadership

• Organized and detail-oriented, particularly in behavioral data collection and documentation

• Aligned with Movement Schools' mission and belief that all means all

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required

• At least 48 college credit hours OR passage of a state-approved paraprofessional assessment

• Familiarity with IEPs, behavior support plans, and ABA data collection systems

• Ability to perform physical support tasks as required (lifting, mobility assistance, de-escalation)

• Successful completion of required background checks

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field preferred

• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification strongly preferred — candidates with active RBT certification will be prioritized

• Prior ABA experience in a school, clinic, or home-based therapy setting strongly preferred

• Experience working with scholars with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and significant behavioral needs preferred

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

• Pay Rate: $20.00–$25.00 per hour

• Employment Type: Part-Time

• Schedule: Follows the academic calendar; school day hours Monday through Friday
