Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Part-time position requiring 2 - 12 hour night shifts per week, from 1900 to 0730, with some weekend rotation.

Less than 1 year of experience preferred, but not required.

• General Certifications: NRP, BLS/BCLS

The Registered Nurse position offers high-quality nursing care for maternal and newborn patients. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide services that embody the caring philosophy of the organization. The OB RN is also cross-trained to care for Medical-Surgical and EICU patients as needed.

• Completes initial nursing histories, assesses patient conditions, and develops individual plans of care for assigned patients.
• Appropriately triages patient care based on presenting or expressed symptoms.
• Administers medications accurately.
• Monitors labor progression.
• Responds competently to medical emergencies, including prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, precipitous delivery, uterine rupture, meconium management, abruptio placenta, and placenta previa.
• Performs fetal heart monitoring and evaluates results accurately.
• Manages pregnancy-related concerns such as hypertension and diabetes.
• Assesses newborn conditions, anticipating situations requiring heightened surveillance or advanced care.
• Performs neonatal resuscitation within the scope of practice and certification.
• Recognizes and manages neonatal sepsis effectively.
• Monitors newborns for adverse events such as hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and jaundice; intervenes appropriately.
• Promotes patient education and encourages involvement in the care of the newborn.
• Identifies and communicates any patient status changes to the provider promptly.
• Engages effectively with the patients' care team.
• Performs other duties as requested.

• Two-year degree in nursing required; four-year degree in nursing preferred.
• Must hold and maintain a Wisconsin Registered Nursing license.
• AHA BLS certification within 1 month of hire.
• NRP certification within 6 months of hire.
• ALSO certification within 1 year of hire.
• STABLE certification within 1 year of hire.
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification within 1 year of hire.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail are required.

Holiday coverage is required.
