Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Full-time position requiring three 12-hour night shifts per week from 1900 to 0730 with weekend rotation.

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide quality nursing care for maternal and newborn patients. This role involves collaboration with other healthcare professionals to deliver services that embody the caring philosophy of the organization. The OB RN may also be cross-trained to care for Med Surg/EICU patients when necessary.

Essential Job Duties

• Complete initial nursing histories, assess patients' conditions, and develop individualized care plans for assigned patients.
• Triage patient care based on presenting or expressed symptoms effectively.
• Accurately administer medications and assess labor progression.
• Manage labor induction and cervical ripening.
• Handle medical emergencies, including prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, precipitous delivery, uterine rupture, management of meconium, abruptio placenta, and placenta previa.
• Perform and accurately interpret fetal heart monitoring.
• Manage pregnancy-related concerns such as hypertension and diabetes.
• Assess the condition of newborns and identify situations requiring heightened surveillance or a higher level of care.
• Perform neonatal resuscitation within the scope of practice and certification.
• Recognize and manage neonatal sepsis.
• Monitor newborns for adverse events such as hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and jaundice; intervene appropriately.
• Promote patient education and involvement in the care of newborns.
• Identify and alert the provider about patient status changes promptly.
• Communicate effectively with the patient care team.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Required Qualifications

• Two-year degree in nursing required; four-year degree in nursing preferred.
• Must hold and maintain a valid Registered Nursing license in Wisconsin.
• AHA BLS certification within one month of hire.
• NRP certification within six months of hire.
• ALSO certification within one year of hire.
• STABLE certification within one year of hire.
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification within one year of hire.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.

Holiday coverage is required for this position.

Minimum of less than one year of nursing experience is required.
