Chemical Production Operator

Pay: $25–$33 per hour, based on experience

Schedule: Monday–Friday

Available shifts:

• First shift: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
• Second shift: 3:00 PM–11:30 PM

Job Type: Contract-to-hire

Position Overview

We are looking for experienced Chemical Production Operators to join a growing manufacturing operation. This is a hands-on role responsible for running batch chemical processes, monitoring production conditions, documenting results, and safely moving materials through each stage of production.

The ideal candidate has previous chemical-processing experience and can manage multiple processes with limited supervision. New employees receive structured training, including written operating procedures and hands-on shadowing, before transitioning to independent work.

Responsibilities

• Operate batch reactors and distillation equipment by following detailed production records and standard operating procedures.
• Perform chemical-processing steps such as charging, mixing, layer separation, distillation, filtration, and packaging.
• Weigh, dispense, charge, and package production materials according to established procedures.
• Monitor reaction progress and recognize when a process moves outside normal operating conditions.
• Perform or interpret basic analytical testing, including GC, HPLC, and Karl Fischer testing.
• Accurately document production activities, process conditions, and testing results.
• Perform basic maintenance on production and support equipment, including vacuum and transfer pumps.
• Transfer and store raw materials, supplies, and finished products.
• Operate forklifts, pallet movers, drum carts, and other material-handling equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow applicable safety, quality, food-safety, GMP, and production procedures.

Communicate clearly with team members to support smooth shift transitions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least three years of experience as a Chemical Operator or in a similar batch-processing environment.
• An associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with one to five years of relevant experience may also be considered.
• Experience with batch reactors, distillation, blending, filtration, chemical processing, or analytical testing is preferred.
• Ability to read and follow detailed production records and operating procedures.
• Comfortable working independently after completing training.
• Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and communication skills.
• Forklift or other material-handling experience is helpful.

Physical Requirements

• - Ability to sit, stand, bend, and reach throughout the shift.
  • Ability to move materials using carts, drum-handling equipment, and other approved tools.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including a respirator for certain tasks.
  • Normal hearing and vision required for safe equipment operation.
