Lead Swim Instructor (Operations Assistant)

Location: SafeSplash® Swim School – Arlington & Grand Prairie, TX
Pay: $16.75–$18.75 per hour (based on experience)
Job Type: Full-time (35+ hours per week)

• Monday through Friday: Afternoon and evening shifts
• Saturday: Morning through early afternoon (required)

SafeSplash Swim School is seeking dependable, confident, and motivated Lead Swim Instructors / Operations Assistants to help lead our instructional team while supporting the day-to-day operations of our swim school.

This is a leadership position that combines high-quality swim instruction with operational responsibilities. You will mentor instructors, support families, maintain lesson quality, and help ensure each shift runs efficiently.

As a Lead Swim Instructor / Operations Assistant, you will serve as one of the leaders on deck while continuing to teach swim lessons. You will work closely with management to ensure exceptional customer service, instructor support, operational excellence, and a safe learning environment for every swimmer.

Strong performers will have opportunities to advance into Assistant Manager and other leadership positions.

• Teach swim lessons for students ages 4 months through adults.
• Teach swimmers of all skill levels using the SafeSplash curriculum.
• Maintain high-quality, engaging, and safe lessons.
• Monitor swimmer progress and complete skill evaluations.
• Cover classes when instructors are absent.
• Ensure all safety standards and lesson quality expectations are met.

• Serve as the on-site shift leader.
• Coach, mentor, and support swim instructors.
• Assist with onboarding and training new employees.
• Answer instructor questions and provide guidance throughout the shift.
• Communicate staffing concerns and operational needs to management.
• Help maintain consistency and professionalism among the instructional team.

• Welcome swimmers and families.
• Build positive relationships with parents.
• Resolve customer concerns professionally.
• Communicate schedule changes and important updates.
• Deliver exceptional customer service that reflects the SafeSplash brand.

• Assist with scheduling and attendance tracking.
• Help ensure classes begin and end on time.
• Report facility, equipment, and safety concerns promptly.
• Prepare locations for quality assurance visits.
• Support daily swim school operations as needed.

• Strong swimming ability with proficiency in all four competitive strokes:
  • Freestyle
  • Backstroke
  • Breaststroke
  • Butterfly
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
• Previous leadership experience or demonstrated leadership potential.
• Comfortable coaching and supporting peers.
• Calm under pressure and capable of making sound decisions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Friendly and professional with children, parents, and staff.
• Comfortable teaching swimmers ages 4 months through adults.
• Willingness to learn scheduling and operational systems.
• Willing to obtain Lifeguard and other required certifications if requested.
  • Certification reimbursement available after successful completion.

• Previous experience as a Swim Instructor, Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor, or Lead Instructor.
• Experience coaching sports or teaching physical education.
• Experience working with children in educational or recreational settings.
• Knowledge of behavior management techniques.
• Experience working in aquatic facilities, recreation centers, gyms, or health clubs.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and multitasking skills.
