Associate Executive Director

The Associate Executive Director (AED) works in coordination with and in the absence of the Executive Director (ED) overseeing all shift operations, monitoring, troubleshooting and responding to issues within all departments throughout the community. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with all staff, Residents, family members, business associates and the general public.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Begin every shift with a full site inspection both inside and outside looking for safety, regulatory, cleanliness and neatness violations as well as inappropriate placement of furniture and decorations (in absence of, and in coordination with, the General Manager).
2. Management of the entire facility's operations, including physical space, staff, resident relations, community relations, marketing, food service, maintenance, housekeeping, activities and wellness (in absence of, and in coordination with, the General Manager).
3. Maintaining regular and effective communication with the General Manager regarding all activities and incidents that AED is overseeing.
4. Oversee the management of entire building and grounds in a manner consistent with management policies, safety considerations and regulatory requirements through oversight and follow up of the preventative maintenance systems and programs and frequent inspection (in absence of, and in coordination with, the General Manager).
5. Maintain and update knowledge of governmental statutes and regulation affecting operations of the facility in order to meet continued licensure, registration, and certification of the facility.
6. Assist General Manager with interviewing, hiring and training of personnel as requested.
7. Assist General Manager, and guide Department Directors, with corrective action/disciplinary counseling of staff as necessary.
8. Assist General Manager in monitoring quality and maintenance of staffing levels, employee files, and adherence to Federal, State, and local labor regulations. Delegate responsibility and authority to other facility staff where appropriate.
9. With the General Manager's guidance, develop and maintain an overall understanding of community and departmental budgets.
10. Assist in maintaining staff morale and loyalty at a high level, by helping to coordinate, and participating in, employee events, keeping staff well informed and interpreting personnel policies appropriately.
11. Create and maintain an "open-door" atmosphere for staff by allowing the time to be available for meetings, conferences and concerns.
12. Assist in creating and maintaining an environment for staff personnel to grow professionally.
13. Be mindful of departmental and community expenditures in relation to budgetary constraints.
14. Maintain an active relationship with the Residents through individual and group interaction. Meet regularly with the Residents by accompanying General Manager (as requested) at monthly Resident Council meetings, and, in close coordination with the General Manager, respond appropriately and timely to the issues and concerns that are raised.
15. Create and maintain an atmosphere of caring, stability, and peace where the personal dignity of Residents is supported and the Residents are encouraged to live as closely as possible/practical to how they had been accustomed.
16. Fully responsible for proper emergency and evacuation procedures and responses to Residents, their families and employees, ensuring community readiness for all cases of emergency.
17. Work closely with General Manager in support of any community marketing initiatives.
18. Active participation with General Manager in the regulatory processes of both the legislative and governmental agencies.
19. Represent the facility and the Company in a positive manner maintaining an image of social propriety and professional excellence.
20. Assist General Manager in establishing and maintaining liaison relationships and communications with area hospitals, social service agencies, mental health agencies, etc.
21. Maintains the covenants of all management agreements, leases and contracts that have been signed by the Executive Board.
22. Attend inservices, trainings, both internal and external, as deemed necessary or beneficial.
23. May cover other shifts as requested and as dictated by the needs of the Residents and the community.
24. All other duties as assigned by the General Manager, and/or the COO and/or Regional VPs.

Qualifications

Education

Required: Bachelors or better.

Preferred: Masters or better.
