Position Overview:

ProCare Therapy is seeking a dedicated and qualified Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year with 21st Century Charter School of Gary. This full-time position offers the opportunity to support middle school students in grades 6–8 by providing specialized instruction, academic interventions, and behavioral support in a collaborative educational environment. The ideal candidate will be committed to helping students achieve academic success while fostering independence, self-advocacy, and positive social-emotional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Provide specialized instruction and intervention in reading, writing, and mathematics
Support students through a combination of push-in, pull-out, inclusion, and resource services
Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate compliance documentation
Conduct case conferences and communicate regularly with parents and guardians
Develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as needed
Support students' executive functioning, organization, study skills, and self-advocacy development
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to student success planning
Ensure compliance with all state and federal special education regulations

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field
Active Indiana Special Education License (Mild Intervention preferred)
Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education compliance requirements
Previous experience working with middle school students preferred
Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented educational environment

Special Requirements:

Must hold or be eligible to obtain Indiana Special Education licensure
Experience supporting students in grades 6–8 preferred
Knowledge of inclusion models, resource support, and intervention services
Strong understanding of behavioral supports and executive functioning strategies
