Role Description The General Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at McCools Ice Cream in Madison, NJ. This position oversees daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, managing staff schedules, monitoring inventory, and ensuring the shop is clean, safe, and well-presented. The General Manager leads and coaches team members, trains, and maintains high standards of customer service and product quality. Responsibilities include handling cash management, coordinating with vendors, tracking sales, and implementing basic cost-control measures. The General Manager also helps plan local promotions, responds to customer feedback, and works with ownership to meet performance goals and maintain a positive workplace culture.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail or food service management, with the ability to oversee daily operations and lead a frontline team.

• Strong customer service skills, including clear communication, conflict resolution, and a friendly, professional demeanor with guests.

• Basic financial and administrative skills, such as cash handling, sales tracking, and staff scheduling.

• Organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks, maintain cleanliness, and ensure smooth shift transitions.

• Ability to train, motivate, and support team members while fostering an inclusive, respectful, and safety-conscious environment.

• Comfort working on-site, standing for extended periods, and performing hands-on tasks in a fast-paced setting.

Prior supervisory experience in a restaurant, café, or similar setting is preferred.

• Availability to work a flexible schedule is a positive but this position is mainly M-F, 9:00Am - 5:00PM
