Welder/FabricatorWelder/FabricatorJob DescriptionDepartment: TruckSVCLocation: Kansas City, MOSummary:Successful applicant will conduct metal (primarily steel) fabrication and welding on a daily basis. Successful applicant will be responsible for various types of structural welding, including preparation, welding, and finishing operations. Applicant must be able to read, interpret, and understand detail design prints. Successful applicant must be in good physical condition and able to work in a steel fabrication shop environment on a daily basis. Successful applicant must be a team player, able to easily interact with others, have a solid work ethic. Successful applicant may be required to work at remote job sites on occasion in rock or asphalt quarries or other industrial job sites and therefore must be able to successfully interact with end customers, follow safety procedures and policies, and be willing possible long hours during the day to complete jobs in timely manner so as to get our end customers back operational.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.Works directly with plant manager, shop supervisor, customer, drafter, and peers to produce finished productsProficient in modern welding techniques and equipmentGood working knowledge of wire and filler material applications for various steel alloys and aluminum.Problem analysis and resolutionFinish grinding applications using manual and power tools.Responds effectively to questions and inquiries concerning assembly and weldingUtilizes knowledge of various machines, welding practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete assembly and weldingMust be able to read and interpret drawings and specificationsMust be familiar with product assembly and applicationMust have working knowledge welding shop operationsPosition requires that successful applicant be a highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently but also performs well within teams or work groupsMust have strong oral communication skillsMust be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situationsSuccessful applicant will be safety conscious and have good housekeeping practicesAble to work with minimum supervision and capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work producedWorking Conditions:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Even though the shop has overhead heaters, the shop environment is often cold or hot depending upon the outside environment.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.For the plant to be successful, it is essential that employees come to work as scheduled and have good attendance.Physical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
