Estimator/Project Manager

Position Overview This is a skilled position as an experienced Estimator/Project Manager involving the preparation of quantity estimates using material, labor and overhead costs and management of projects that are awarded to the company. Key Responsibilities Bid and manage multiple jobs concurrently. Have experience with estimating earthwork, demolition, utility, paving, and heavy civil projects, including quantity take-off, pricing, crew production and scheduling. Visit project sites weekly to monitor progress, update schedules and review cost with Project Superintendent. Manage profit/loss of projects through weekly cost reviews. Manage awarded projects including ensuring all safety practices are followed, creating and updating project schedules, generating month billings, reviewing job cost, working with field personnel to build the project, pricing change orders and overseeing subcontractors and vendors. Work with owners/customers to help ensure complete customer satisfaction. Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Bid 2 Win, Trimble Business Center, Plan Swift, Bluebeam, ViewPoint, and SAP. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or other related fields. Five+ years construction estimating experience is preferred; or an equivalent of education and experience will be accepted. Work Requirements Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Effective presentation of information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Mathematical proficiency in basic arithmetic and basic data interpretation. Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to type accurately and use keyboards; knowledge of database software. Physical Requirements Frequently required to sit, climb, and handle equipment. Occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above shoulders. Occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Work Environment Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outside weather, and extreme cold and/or heat. Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
