Registered Nurse Endoscopy

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse in the Endoscopy unit provides specialized nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to pancreatic, lung, colon, and gastric conditions. This role involves performing and assisting with advanced endoscopic procedures, managing patient assessments, medication administration, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. The nurse must demonstrate competency in phlebotomy, IV placement, and maintain certifications in ACLS and BLS. The position requires flexibility with shift schedules and occasional on-call duties.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care during endoscopic procedures including EUS, ERCP, Navigational Bronchoscopy, EBUS, Manometry, and Fibroscan.
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning specific to procedural and oncology-related diagnoses.
• Maintain competency in phlebotomy and IV insertion as required for patient care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient management.
• Operate and manage specialized equipment such as ERBE, Olympus scopes/processors, Super-D, Bravo, VCE, and Manometry devices.
• Participate in on-call rotations covering weeknights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Float to PreAnesthesia and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) when required.
• Adhere to unit protocols including dress code and procedural competencies.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 1 year nursing experience.
• Competency in phlebotomy and IV placement.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Ability to operate specialized endoscopy equipment.
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with procedural nursing care in endoscopy or related specialties.
• Familiarity with oncology patient care related to pancreatic, lung, colon, and gastric cancers.
• Previous float experience in PreAnesthesia or PACU units.

Special Considerations:

• On-call responsibilities approximately 4-6 shifts per month including weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
• Floating to PreAnesthesia and PACU as needed.
• Scrub color requirements: navy or white.
• Local candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility.
• Shift days off vary weekly with no guarantee of consistent Monday or Friday days off.

Scheduling:

• 8-week assignment with 10-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
• Days off vary based on departmental needs and may not be consistent weekly.
