HVAC Truck Based Chiller Mechanic (union)

Overview Johnson Controls is seeking skilled HVAC Technicians to support the fast-growing HVAC business in North America. The role involves servicing air‑cooled and water‑cooled chillers, industrial chillers, AHUs, and large rooftop ducted units, particularly in Industrial Petro‑Chemical and Data Center environments. Responsibilities Provide customer service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items. Act as a trusted advisor during commissioning and aftermarket service. Recommend and provide solutions to ensure efficient facility operation, including upselling opportunities. Prepare and provide customer quotes for recommended solutions. Use mechanical troubleshooting techniques such as vibration equipment, shaft alignment, and repair of centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon system components. Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification. Participate in Service Plus Rewards program and provide on‑the‑job training to local market mechanics. Document and communicate problem, cause, and corrective actions to customers. Qualifications Minimum 8 years of practical experience on air‑or water‑cooled chillers, industrial chillers, AHUs, or large rooftop ducted units. Strong HVAC/mechanical troubleshooting experience. Experience with centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon system components. Knowledge of chilled water loops, pumping, compressor enthalpy, and VSD operation. Proficiency in mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators, lasers, and vibration equipment. Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiency. Enrollment in training programs for HVAC products and sales quoting. Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver’s license. Self‑starter with passion to learn and apply on the job; prioritizes safety. Benefits & Compensation Hourly rate: $38.23 per hour, determined by CBA/rate sheet.
