Staff Accountant

Accountant PositionTri-City Group is currently seeking an Accountant for an immediate opening in Davenport, IA. The Staff Accountant supports the accounting operations of a large, publicly traded construction company by performing general ledger, project accounting, and financial close activities. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal controls. The Staff Accountant works closely with senior accounting staff, project teams, and other finance partners.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Prepare routine journal entries and supporting documentationAssist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processesPerform account reconciliations, including cash, prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed assetsInvestigate and resolve reconciling items and variancesSupport job cost accounting for construction projects, including cost tracking, accruals, and WIP schedulesAssist with revenue recognition activities under ASC 606, including review of costs, billings, and retainagePartner with project managers to obtain and verify project financial informationAssist in the preparation of internal financial reports and management schedulesSupport external and internal audit requests by providing documentation and explanationsComply with company accounting policies, procedures, and SOX internal control requirementsMaintain accurate documentation for accounting processes and controlsIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy in accounting workflowsProvide support to senior accountants and cross-functional teams as neededThis is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM -5:00 PM. Occasional changes to the work schedule may be required as job duties demand.Competencies:Basic to intermediate knowledge of U.S. GAAPFamiliarity with construction accounting concepts (job cost, WIP, billings) preferredExperience with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, Workday, or similar)Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)Strong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentWillingness to learn and take on increasing responsibilityEffective written and verbal communication skillsQualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance1-3 years of progressive accounting experience; construction industry or project-based accounting experience preferredPublic company or SOX environment exposure is a plusCPA or CPA-eligible preferredAll job offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a drug screen and reference check.
