Senior Scientist, Tissue Culture

Neurocrine Biosciences seeks a Senior Scientist to develop and characterize iPSC-derived cellular and disease models, including complex multicellular systems. The role focuses on high-content imaging platform expertise, cell-based assay development, and supporting drug discovery programs through advanced imaging and data analysis.
Responsibilities
- Lead development, optimization, and characterization of iPSC-derived cellular and disease models including mono-, co-, and tri-culture systems
- Develop and optimize cell-based assays and phenotypic readouts to evaluate therapeutics and support drug discovery programs
- Lead the high-content imaging platform including experimental design, image acquisition optimization, and image-analysis workflow development
- Design and execute experimental plans independently, troubleshoot biological and technical challenges, and communicate results to project teams
- Provide training and technical support for HCI instrumentation, image-analysis software, and associated data workflows
Requirements
- BS/BA with 6+ years experience, or MS/MA with 4+ years, or PhD with 2+ years relevant experience
- Strong expertise with iPSC-derived cell models and complex multicellular systems, particularly neuron-astrocyte-microglia co- or tri-cultures
- Demonstrated proficiency with high-content imaging platforms and image-analysis pipeline development including segmentation and phenotypic quantification
- Experience with Operetta and Harmony software; familiarity with CellProfiler, Spotfire, or Prism desirable
- Strong background developing and optimizing robust cell-based assays with experience in functional readouts such as live-cell or calcium imaging
- Experience with flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, RNA-seq, immunofluorescence, or protein-based assays preferred
- Demonstrated scientific independence, strong communication skills, and ability to work cross-functionally and mentor junior staff
Compensation: $130,800–$179,000 base annual salary, plus 30% target annual bonus
