TEMPORARY NON Lead Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator - Green Mountain Reservoir.

Position Overview Temporary Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator (Lead and General) with Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Colorado Department of Natural Resources. Pay: $20.00–$21.00 per hour. Employment dates: 05/12/2026 – 10/15/2026 (9 months or less). Responsibilities Inspect and decontaminate boats launching and leaving the reservoir, ensuring compliance with state regulations and standard protocols. Provide public outreach and education on invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels, distributing printed material to visitors. Work independently or in pairs; early morning, evening, and weekend shifts required. Lead Inspector: train inspection staff, create and manage schedules, ensure shift coverage, maintain records and payroll timekeeping, resolve staffing or customer issues, recommend hiring/firing decisions. Conduct monthly quality‑control assessments, verify data entry accuracy, maintain inventory of supplies, and perform basic maintenance on decontamination equipment. Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma. Good driving record and ability to work weekends, early mornings, and late evenings. Experience with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines, and/or heavy equipment preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong customer‑service orientation. Reliable, punctual, and self‑motivated. Ability to work independently. Vehicle & Driving Standards All workers expected to drive a state‑owned vehicle must maintain a safe driving record and hold a valid driver’s license. Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) will be reviewed for those assigned a state fleet vehicle, required to operate a vehicle as part of the position, or utilizing a state fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle.
