Overview This is a temporary position (9 months or less) paying $19.00 per hour. Employment starts 03/08/2026 and ends 10/31/2026. The announcement will remain open until filled. To apply, submit only your application (no attachments such as resumes or cover letters). Description of Job This is an unarmed law enforcement position (Title 33 Commission). Limited Commission Ranger duties involve extensive customer service and public contact while enforcing CPW laws and regulations. Specific Duties Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Loma Port of Entry near Loma, Colorado. Site lead boat inspector responsibilities include on-the-job training for inspection staff, creating schedules, covering shifts during operating hours, verifying accurate timekeeping records for payroll, and recommending hiring/firing to the Invasive Species Specialist. Ensure inspection station staff follow standardized protocols by performing monthly quality control assessments; ensure accurate data entry by inspection station staff; maintain inventory of required supplies; perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on power washer/decontamination unit; provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species. Early morning, evening, and weekend work is required. As a Limited Commission Ranger, duties may include: enforcing CPW rules, resolving visitor complaints, completing reports and appearing in court if required, answering questions about aquatic invasive species, and other duties as assigned. Basic Requirements Must be 21 years of age or older. Must have a current and valid driver's license for operating a state vehicle and an acceptable driving record (verified through a background check). Federal law prohibits illegal drugs. If you have used marijuana within the past 12 months and/or illegal drugs within the past 36 months you will be disqualified. Felony or domestic violence convictions, or misdemeanors prohibiting POST certification, will disqualify you from the process. Comprehensive background check required. Must be available to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays; may involve inclement weather. Position requires outdoor physical work, including climbing in/out of vessels/vehicles and under trailers. Uniform items provided; limited additional uniform purchases may be required. Must attend and complete required Colorado State Park training (may include OC spray exposure). Must have or attain valid First Aid and CPR certifications. Ability to work with limited supervision and in a team; strong interpersonal communication for excellent customer service. Basic computer skills (MS Office, Google Apps). Preference may be given to applicants pursuing a Natural Resources degree or similar. Fleet and Driving Standards: maintain a safe driving record and valid license prior to driving state-owned vehicles. Fleet Vehicle Policy Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) may be pulled for workers who have an assigned State fleet vehicle, are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position, or utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle. Physical Requirements Positions involve physical activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
