Customer Service Specialist
Utilities Assistance Program | STEP, Inc.Make a difference in your community every day.
Do you enjoy helping people, solving problems, and providing outstanding customer service? STEP, Inc. is seeking a Customer Service Specialist to join our Utilities Assistance Program . In this important role, you'll assist individuals and families in accessing utility assistance programs, community resources, and support services that help improve their quality of life.
If you're detail-oriented, compassionate, organized, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where every interaction matters, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
As a Customer Service Specialist, you will:
- Welcome customers and visitors with professionalism and courtesy.
- Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and connect individuals with appropriate resources.
- Assist customers with applications, eligibility screenings, and program enrollment.
- Gather, verify, and accurately enter customer information into agency databases.
- Educate customers about utility assistance programs and available community services.
- Review and maintain customer records while ensuring confidentiality.
- Process referrals, recertifications, and program documentation.
- Collaborate with team members to provide exceptional customer support.
- Help individuals navigate services that address essential household needs.

Pay Rate: $18.09
Schedule: 20 hours per week - flexible (5 days x 4 hours or 4 days x 5 hours); start time also flexible within regular office hours

Requirements
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of office or administrative experience.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Experience with data entry, databases, spreadsheets, and general computer applications.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail while managing multiple tasks.
