Location:

• Sitka, Alaska

Position Type:

• Travel assignment, 13 weeks duration

Schedule:

• Four 10-hour shifts per week (7:30 AM – 6:30 PM)
• Includes weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage

Key Responsibilities:

• Review prescriptions for appropriateness, legality, and safety, including checking for interactions and allergies
• Provide clinical consultations and resolve prescriber questions prior to dispensing medications
• Accurately document clinical activities and enter/verify prescription orders using pharmacy software
• Counsel patients clearly regarding their medications and verify understanding
• Perform chart reviews for refills and medication therapy management; write recommendations and request refills as needed
• Offer drug information, consultations, and staff education
• Direct daily activities of pharmacy technicians and participate in quality improvement
• Support health promotion and disease prevention efforts related to drug therapy
• Work in pharmacy-run clinics as required

Required Qualifications:

• PharmD degree and valid unrestricted Alaska Pharmacist License (active license required prior to application)
• Flu vaccination and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers
• Candidates licensed prior to 2003 with Bachelor of Pharmacy and 3 years hospital or ambulatory experience also considered
• Ability to promptly schedule fingerprinting and submit cards for background check (start date is dependent on this process)
