Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Puyallup, Washington.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: ED - Emergency Department\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 10/05/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, flexible\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Variable, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Oct 5, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center, requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and recent Epic charting experience.Details\n \n Level III Trauma Center with 375 licensed beds; ED has 46 beds including 5 safe psych rooms and a 5-bed fast track area\n Averages 200 patients per day\n Patient population spans peds to geriatrics including trauma, GSW, sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health, respiratory issues, and high acuity medical cases\n High geriatric population, primarily falls and STEMI\n No invasive neuro procedures such as craniotomies performed\n Small pediatric volume, generally transferred to Mary Bridge\n Day shift ratio of 1:4-5, with flexibility to 5 based on acuity and staffing\n 12-hour Mids/Nights shifts, 36 hours per week\n Shift start times vary: Days/Mids at 0700 or 1100, Mids/Nights at 1500 or 1900\n Likely to work consistent shift for a week at a time, subject to change\n Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs\n Schedule provided three weeks at a time, released about 10 days prior\n No floating required\n No on-call requirements\n Central and bedside telemetry monitoring at nursing station; no dedicated tele tech\n Requirements\n \n Active WA or compact RN license required\n Minimum 2 years of ED experience required\n Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CPI/MOAB\n Recent Epic EMR experience required\n Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV insertion, and ED drips/med administration\n Experience with procedural sedation, blood administration, and cardiac medications\n TNK administration experience preferred\n Must pass Traveler Telemetry Competency exam prior to start\n Additional Information\n \n Unit supported by ER techs, resource/float nurse, 24/7 RT, ED educator, 24/7 house supervisor, 24/7 social work services, and 24/7 pharmacy support\n Increased security assigned to the ED 24/7 for safety\n Charge nurse rarely takes a patient assignment\n Two-day orientation including NEO, educator meeting, and a 12-hour precepted shift\n Holiday coverage required for 2 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)\n Scrubs may be any professional color\n Modest piercings (studs only) permitted; tattoos must not be offensive\n Free parking available in designated areas\n Fast-paced, team-oriented culture that is traveler friendly, with many travelers extending their contracts\n First-time travelers will be considered for this position\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-751343.
