Logistics Coordinator

20805 Eaton Ave, Farmington, Minnesota 55024-7932 Salary: $31.34 to $39.23 per hour (depending on experience and education). Shift: Weekend Shift – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5:00 am to 5:00 pm. Responsibilities Reports to Materials Manager and has no direct reports. Domestic travel may be required, with possible overnight stays. Secures spot quotations as necessary and manages shipment execution, loading, and deliveries for pole, communication tower, T-pole, tubing, irrigation, or LTL shipments. Efficiently utilizes TMS capabilities such as MOJO and shipment process execution. Coordinates orders with shipping, marketing, and carriers for a timely, cost-effective delivery. Coordinates customer-service activities necessary to schedule and ship at acceptable margins. Accepts a variety of duties, including special projects directed by business units and filling in during short absences of key personnel. Communicates effectively with customers and dealers, coordinating delivery appointments with carriers to meet company deadlines. Coordinates the shipment of all truckload shipments from multiple locations. Initiates and maintains sufficient carrier contacts and communication to carry out objectives. Adheres to established transportation policies, procedures, and objectives. Reviews reports as required to support business or customer needs. Assists Freight Specialists in freight auditing and payment of all invoices where applicable. Works with freight-rating and coordinating software, Transportation Management System (TMS). Works with on staff DOT Safety Manager to remain aware of Valmont’s DOT compliance. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of DOT compliance and safety requirements of the U.S. Department of Transportation – Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Demonstrates excellent communication to interface with internal Valmont departments and external carriers, dealers, contractors, vendors, and customers. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred with 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing/distribution setting in logistics, supply chain, sales, or customer service; or associate’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; or 7+ years of relevant experience. Detail oriented, able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with a focus on accuracy, follow-through, and communication. Ability to quote logistics moves cost-effectively and time-critically using available technology. Ability to analyze data to suggest adjustments to route-guide effectiveness. Excellent planning and organizational skills under tight deadlines; can manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer. Positive, professional demeanor with colleagues, carriers, customers, and vendors. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to work with people professionally, address issues constructively, and communicate confidence in logistics matters. Highly qualified candidates will also possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Physical & Working Environment Incumbent must work in office and outside environments during all seasons. Position may require walking, standing, lifting, stooping, reaching, talking, hearing, tasting, or smelling. May occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Requires visual abilities including close and distance vision, and focus adjustment. Minimal domestic U.S. travel may be required.
