Packaging Lead

This role is based in Clackamas, OR and is part of the IFF Health & Biosciences team. Shift Schedule Shift: 10pm – 6:30am, Sunday – Thursday. Hours may exceed 40 hours per business needs. Responsibilities Evaluate efficient production capability of all packaging lines during the shift and ensure machines are running at the highest level possible while producing quality results. Evaluate the need for maintenance assistance and prioritize maintenance requests. Manage crewing for packaging by assigning tasks, communicating expectations, and evaluating results. Perform set‑up and breakdown of machines on all packaging lines based on specific guidelines. Complete machine set‑up activities such as installation, changes, and adjustments, which may require the use of hand tools. Work with machines including bottle orientor, desiccant, CVC capsule counter, metal detector, cotton inserter, lidder, induction sealer, labeler, code dater, neck/full size bander, and carton former. Make minor, simple machine adjustments during product packaging. Facilitate moving in and removing raw and packaging materials to work centers, including capsules, bottles, desiccants, cotton, lids, labels, neck bands, and cardboard boxes. Visually and manually inspect finished bottles and boxes according to inspection guidelines to ensure accuracy and quality standards. Check and correct any conditions that are not conducive to a safe, clean workplace and report safety problems immediately. Work with Quality Control to address packaging and labeling‑related challenges. Use a pallet jack and become forklift certified. Complete and check documentation. Communicate effectively and provide feedback as needed to employees and management. Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including cleaning machines, machine breakdown, tools, and the area around workstations. Maintain regular attendance at the physical job location for the designated shift. Train new operators and/or participate in task forces to improve and establish company procedures and operations. Perform other duties as assigned. Pass all job‑related tests and certifications required for working in a cGMP, quality environment, and re‑qualify every year as required. Pass a drug screen and a background check in accordance with HWP standards. Qualifications High School diploma or GED required. Three to six years’ experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Experience with packaging equipment and FDA/cGMP compliance is preferred. Ability to read and write Basic English, basic shop math skills, algebra, and basic computer skills. High multi‑tasking abilities. Legal right to work in the United States. Comfort working independently and in a team setting. Strong customer service orientation and positive demeanor. Clear focus on high quality production. Benefits and Salary Salary range: $47,312 – $59,140.
