Waters Health and Wellness is a new nurse practitioner-owned outpatient healthcare practice preparing to open in November 2026.

We are seeking an Alabama-licensed physician to serve as our collaborating physician and medical director. This is a low-volume startup position with limited monthly duties. The physician must be willing to complete the required Alabama collaborative-practice registration and provide clinical guidance and quality-assurance oversight.

Responsibilities

Enter into an approved collaborative-practice agreement with the nurse practitioner.

Help establish the practice protocols and scope of services.

Remain available for clinical consultation when needed.

Participate in required quality-assurance activities.

Review a meaningful sample of patient records and adverse outcomes.

Attend required quarterly quality-assurance meetings.

Complete required applications through the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners.

Follow Alabama’s on-site and remote-site requirements.

Assist with prescribing protocols and formulary requirements when applicable.

Maintain proper documentation related to the collaboration.

Qualifications

MD or DO with an active, unrestricted Alabama medical license.

Board certification preferred.

At least three years of medical practice after residency, or at least one year of practice with board certification.

Clinical background that matches the services offered by Waters Health and Wellness.

Understanding of Alabama nurse practitioner collaboration requirements.

Willingness to complete the required Alabama collaborative-practice education.

Good communication and professional references.

No active disciplinary restrictions that would prevent collaboration.
