What You'll Do - Key Responsibilities

• Prepare Nutritious Meals: Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and resident dietary requirements.
• Follow Special Diets: Ensure meals meet prescribed dietary restrictions, modified textures, and nutritional guidelines.
• Maintain Food Quality: Monitor food preparation, portion sizes, presentation, and serving temperatures.
• Support Kitchen Operations: Assist with daily food preparation, meal service, and overall dietary department operations.
• Maintain a Clean & Safe Kitchen: Follow proper sanitation, food handling, infection control, and safety procedures.
• Manage Food Supplies: Assist with inventory, food storage, stock rotation, and minimizing waste.
• Work as a Team: Collaborate with dietary staff, nursing, and facility leadership to ensure residents receive quality meals.
• Provide Leadership: Assist with supervising dietary operations and staff in the absence of the Dietary Manager.
• Maintain Documentation: Complete required food temperature logs, production records, and other dietary documentation.
• Follow Facility Standards: Ensure compliance with applicable food safety regulations, facility policies, and resident care standards.

What We're Looking For - Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience required; experience in healthcare, skilled nursing, long-term care, or institutional food service preferred.
• Experience preparing meals in large quantities.
• Knowledge of special diets, food preparation techniques, portion control, and safe food handling practices.
• Ability to follow recipes, menus, dietary instructions, and production schedules.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to providing quality meals.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
