Patrol Operations Manager

Overview The Summit at Snoqualmie and Alpental is the Pacific Northwest's premier multi mountain ski resort, located 47 miles east of Seattle at Snoqualmie Pass. The property spans five base areas and 20 chairlifts across Summit West, Summit Central, Summit East, and Alpental within the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. A four season operating model includes a mountain bike park and one of the most accessible ski destinations in North America. The Patrol Operations Manager provides clear, consistent day-to-day operational leadership for Patrol across assigned base areas and seasons. This position is focused on execution, coordination, staff leadership, and real-time operational decision-making, ensuring Patrol operations are carried out consistently within established standards, procedures, and escalation thresholds. Responsibilities The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this classification and are not all-inclusive of the specific position. Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) with primary operational authority for day-of Patrol operations when scheduled. Direct and coordinate daily Patrol operations across assigned base areas and seasons. Make real-time operational decisions related to staffing, terrain access coordination, incident response, changing conditions, and escalation. Coordinate operational sequencing around snow safety and mitigation work in partnership with Snow Safety, supervisors, and other operational leaders. Serve as the primary Patrol contact for day-of coordination with Mountain Operations, Lift Operations, Lift Maintenance, Grooming, Snowmaking, Parking/Security, Guest Services, Events, and other departments. Support and manage scheduling, staffing plans, MOD coverage, PTO coordination, sick-call adjustments, timecard review, and overtime awareness for assigned areas. Support and manage hiring processes, including ski test coordination, interviews, candidate evaluation, selection recommendations, onboarding, and operational integration. Support year-round Patrol operations, including winter ski operations, summer mountain bike operations, preseason setup, project work, and postseason transition. Maintain operational readiness for assigned areas, including staffing, first aid room readiness, equipment, facilities, radios, toboggans, signage, fencing, closures, rescue gear, and medical equipment. Qualifications Qualifications and Requirements for the role: Expert skier or snowboarder with the ability to operate confidently in assigned terrain and conditions. Strong working knowledge of ski patrol operations, daily operational decision-making, and incident response. Strong operational judgment with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to support supervisors, lead teams, and maintain accountability. Ability to coordinate effectively across departments and communicate clearly with staff, leaders, and operational partners. Ability to manage staffing, scheduling, performance expectations, and day-to-day operational follow-through. Efficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling tools, incident documentation systems, and other operational applications. Work Environment Ski Patrol director works indoors and outdoors in a mountain environment during the winter season and summer. Team members work in a variety of conditions, which include but are not limited to: Rain, Snow, Freezing Temperatures, Wind, variable snow conditions (powder, sticky, slushy, icy, etc.), slippery conditions, uneven surfaces. Wage and Benefit Info The wage range for this positions is: from $40 - $44 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include: health, dental, vision Team member will accrue PTO and will earn 2 weeks or more in a 12 month period. All individuals may contribute to the 401(k). An employee must work 1,000 hours in a calendar year to qualify for the discretionary match (there is a 2 year vesting cliff). All individuals accrue sick time at 1 hour per 40 hours worked to a maximum of 64 hours per year.
