Business Unit: 24400 Position: Judicial Specialist 2 (#00028087-24400) – Part‑Time, Term, Albuquerque, NM Number of Positions: 1 Opening Date: 07-06-2026 – Close Date: 07-17-2026 Target Pay Range/Rate: $19.773–$24.716 per hour or $20,563.92–$25,704.64 annually The Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court is recruiting for a part‑time, term Judicial Specialist 2 for the Background Investigations Division in Albuquerque, NM. The position is funded through June 30, 2027. Typical duties include managing court cases, performing thorough record checks, receiving fines and bond payments, reconciling daily cash receipts, and generating legal documents such as court date notices. The role also responds to inquiries from the legal and law‑enforcement community, records case information in an automated system, collects and initiates bookings from the detention center, and maintains comprehensive logs and reports. Responsibilities Use the case management system to open, docket, and close cases based on judgment details. Provide customer service to pro se litigants, offering procedural information without legal advice. Open cases, determine case type, assess receipt filing fees, and enter data. Docket cases by reviewing documents, assigning event codes, scanning and linking images. Close cases by entering closing events, disposition types, and judgment details. Reconcile payments, prepare bank deposits, and follow cash handling procedures. Process, maintain, and distribute documents, files, and case materials. Use electronic filing to review incoming filings for format, signatures, event codes, and filing fees. Expedite orders of protection and accurately disburse bond payments. Prepare, proofread, edit, and mail out documents such as notices and final orders. Execute on case hearings, including orders to show cause, bench warrants, and pleadings. Maintain cash till, ensuring accurate assessment and recording of court fees. Provide public case information to parties, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and other agencies. Order, review, sort, and organize jury summons and prepare jury trial documents. Organize case files for microfilming, archiving, and destruction. Research automated, hard copy, and microfiche files for case status data. Certify and prepare court records, tapes, logs, and exhibits for appeals. Ensure the office, courtrooms, and equipment are operational and maintain judicial calendars. Act as a court monitor and perform clerical and technical duties under general supervision. Manage jury trial calendar requests and advise internal staff on jury procedures. Provide support to other magistrate or district courts. Coordinate program participation with specialty programs within the court. Maintain and file court exhibits, including hazardous items. Gather, deliver, and file recordings and receipts for accurate record keeping. Troubleshoot recording equipment, perform updates, and maintain technical logs. Retent case material and logs, safeguard evidence as public, sequestered, or sealed. Act as liaison between court personnel, litigants, and attorneys to advance proceedings. Other duties as assigned. Competencies / Qualifications The successful applicant should demonstrate knowledge of legal terminology, basic jury service, filing methods, case processing, specialty court programs, research methodology, project management techniques, court fee accounting practices, court monitoring procedures, and the Court Clerk’s Procedures Manual and Code of Ethics. Familiarity with state and court language access policies, the Certified Language International Interpreting Line, and the general judicial organizational structure is required. Certifications in NCIC training and court monitor certification are expected. Work Environment and Physical Demands Work is performed in an office or court setting. A valid driver’s license and travel may be required. Overtime may occur. The employee must interact positively with co‑workers, clients, judges, and the public. Two (2) years of experience in court case processing, legal secretarial work, advanced customer service, data processing, or banking/financial fields. Up to one (1) year of experience may be substituted with additional post‑secondary education (30 semester hours equals one year). Typing certification from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions or similar with a minimum of 35 net words per minute, issued within five (5) years of application. NM Court Monitor Certification Examination may be required.
