Description Shumaker's Sarasota office is seeking an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant to join our Litigation & Disputes team. The ideal candidate will have 1+ years of litigation administrative experience with the ability to handle high-volume workloads. Must be detail-oriented, energetic, great at proof-reading and transcription, able to use and learn various software programs and possess strong communication skills. This role will work in-person at our Sarasota, Florida office. Key Responsibilities Public records research (Sunbiz, property searches, permit searches) E-filing in federal, state, and local courts Creating Sharefile links Submitting conflict checks (initial and supplemental as new parties are added/discovered) Communicating with clients regarding receipt of retainers Pulling information to respond to billing inquiries from clients (we are constantly asked questions about how retainers are applied) Following up with cold callers Submitting reimbursements (travel, mileage, CLE’s, marketing, etc.) Registering attorneys for events and CLE’s Assisting attorneys and marketing to prepare for events Recording attorney time in iTimekeep Word processing Large copy projects Closing files and scanning documents to save, breaking apart old hearing binders for shredding, etc. Any other duties as assigned by the Office Administrator Required Qualifications At least 1 year of administration experience in civil, multi-party and/or complex litigation High School Diploma or higher About the Firm We’re not just another law firm—we’re something different. FLSA Status Hourly Non-Exempt Physical Requirements Frequent sitting (up to 6 hours/day), with static posture for up to 30 minutes at a time. Occasional bending and stooping (up to 30 minutes/day).
