Manager System Arts Integration

At Houston Methodist, the Manager System Arts Integration position is responsible for system-wide oversight of non-clinical arts programming for the Center for Performing Arts Medicine (CPAM) across Houston Methodist, ensuring that experiences are thoughtfully planned, effectively executed, and consistently evaluated. This role integrates the arts into the holistic environment of care across a broad range of populations, including patients, the public, employees, and the broader community. The manager develops and delivers intentionally curated programming that reflects the unique and evolving needs of arts in health, while maintaining efficient, effective, and compliant operational practices to improve the overall experience of healthcare.

Exempt Key Responsibilities Oversee daily work activities of the work unit/department staff, ensuring quality, productivity, and functional excellence. Provide guidance to staff and manage staffing, budget compliance, hiring and performance coaching. Implement training, monitoring and operations initiatives to secure compliance with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe and effective work environment. Lead program management and operational planning for CPAM, coordinating across departments and ensuring alignment with system goals. Monitor program utilization and its impact on patient satisfaction, employee engagement, revenue enhancement, and quality measures. Optimize safety and quality through continuous improvement, data analysis and lean principles. Assist in budget development, expense monitoring and financial targeting to meet departmental goals. Identify and implement innovative solutions and process improvements to enhance department operations. Maintain documentation and compliance with institutional, accreditation, and regulatory standards. People Essential Functions Selection, scheduling, supervision, retention and evaluation of employees. Conduct regular department meetings, performance appraisals, coaching and recognition to build an engaged staff. Facilitate effective team dynamics and drive process improvements. Achieve household metrics on employee engagement and turnover. Collaborate with leadership across the organization to support program expansion. Service Essential Functions Plan and organize daily departmental operations and activities, setting priorities and functional standards to deliver high customer/patient satisfaction. Drive service standards to impact satisfaction metrics, serving on committees as a departmental voice. Execute CPAM’s vision, connecting arts programming with operational leadership to develop impactful programs for patients, families, the public and the community. Ensure curated programs and engaged artists meet hospital goals and best practices in Arts in Health. Conduct analyses linking program utilization with patient satisfaction, employee engagement, revenue, and quality measures. Quality/ Safety Essential Functions Maintain a safe and effective working environment and monitor the department safety plan. Use information systems to enhance operations and support performance improvement. Implement proactive safety and process improvement initiatives and report incidents promptly. Enforce compliance with policies, procedures and HR standards. Finance Essential Functions Assist in department budget development and ensure cost-effective operations. Monitor and audit expenses within approved budgets. Coordinate invoice payments and financial procedures with Finance, HR and Foundation. Growth/Innovation Essential Functions Identify and implement innovative solutions for workflow changes and department operations. Evaluate processes, recommend and implement change plans, and participate in new procedures development. Build strategic relationships across units to achieve business goals. Support staff development and complete Individual Development Plans. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in business, hospital/healthcare administration, Arts Administration/Leadership/Curation/Performance or related field. Experience: Five years in healthcare, arts administration or arts curatorial capacity including program management; may consider HM employee with four years of progressive responsibility. Knowledge and Abilities Demonstrate necessary skills and competencies through assessments and feedback. Proficiency in English language for essential functions affecting safety. Effective communication with patients, physicians, families, and colleagues. Build confidence through interpersonal skills. Use appropriate interpersonal styles and techniques. Demonstrate leadership, critical thinking and communication skills. Analyze data to identify issues, problems, and opportunities. Work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes. Manage multiple projects with conflicting priorities. Monitor budgets and invoicing aligned with financial recommendations. Familiar with current best practices and history of Arts in Health.
