Orthopedic Travel Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license permitting practice in California; pending licenses are not accepted.
• At least 1 year of recent Registered Nurse experience required.
• Previous acute-care orthopedic nursing experience preferred.
• Experience caring for orthopedic trauma, spine surgery, total joint replacement, and multi-trauma patients.
• Trauma Level I experience required; Trauma Level II experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification.
• Ability to provide care for approximately five patients per shift.
• Willingness to float between comparable units or nearby sister locations when needed.
• All requested time off and scheduling preferences must be submitted before assignment confirmation.
• Availability to work three of five designated holidays during the assignment may be required.

Orthopedic RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult orthopedic and spine patients.
• Care for patients following total joint replacement, arthroplasty, orthopedic and spine procedures, and traumatic injuries.
• Monitor patients requiring remote telemetry and promptly identify changes in condition.
• Perform comprehensive assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes.
• Manage peripheral and central lines, PICCs, chest tubes, drains, feeding tubes, wound vacuums, traction, and peripheral nerve block catheters as indicated.
• Administer medications, blood products, oxygen therapy, and patient-controlled analgesia safely.
• Provide wound care, postoperative monitoring, pain management, mobility support, and patient education.
• Collaborate with physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Document care accurately in Epic and respond appropriately to urgent or changing patient needs.
