Lead Application Developer

Type: 9 month contract to start

Location: Austin, Texas

Schedule: Onsite Tuesday and Thursdays. Remote Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays

The Lead Application Developer reports to the AVP/VP of NFP Application Engineering. They are responsible for building web and mobile applications for our business partners in the financial services industry. This opportunity is for a contract hybrid position with 2 days in our Austin office. Salary will commensurate with experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead, architect, design, oversee development and deployment of web and mobile applications across the full technology stack (front end, middle tier, back end).

• Lead requirements gathering and specifications
• Evaluate scope, project plan & timeline
• Asses risk and analyze mitigation options
• Strategize and design Proof of concept and/or prototypes
• Drive desired status and collaborate with distributed delivery teams
• Deliverables/Tasks/responsibilities associated with the design and development phase of a business solution development process include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Architect and design Solution/application modules
• Develop implementation specifications
• Participate in implementation specification review
• Participate in test plan reviews
• Develop software code to specification
• Integration test
• Code and deliverable review
• Participate in User acceptance meetings and plan
• Lead future enhancement recommendations or future solution phase/release recommendation.
• Lead deployment and post deployment support
• Troubleshoot and support basic applications in the production environment when escalated from front-line support team.
• Identify and document process improvement opportunities such as coding practice, templates for repeated tasks, architectural improvement, etc…
• Lead technology innovation of emerging technologies

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential to work with all levels within the company.
• Full understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Deep understanding of Microsoft Azure,.NET framework,.NET Core, Visual Studio, C#, JavaScript, and ASP.NET.
• Hands-on experience with UI frameworks such as Angular and React
• Experience using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or Cursor to efficiently complete development tasks
• Excellent working knowledge of SQL Server, T-SQL, and Team Foundation Server
• Visual Studio Release Management experience a plus.
• Must be able to handle various tasks simultaneously, organize, prioritize, make decisions and work efficiently and effectively under deadlines.
• Must be able to work with geographically disperse teams and stakeholders through both onshore and offshore teams
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
• Ability to work independently and delegate implementation tasks to a small team of developers to successful completion.
• Estimation and timely delivery of proposed and agreed upon solutions.

Education and/or Experience:

• 10+ years in software development
• 8+ years of development in web-related technologies
• 6+ years of development using.NET Framework,.NET Core, Azure, C#, SQL Server
• 6+ years of development in ASP.NET Web Forms and/or ASP.NET MVC and/or Angular and/or React
• Bachelor's Degree Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, related field or Equivalent Experience, Master Degree preferred
