Design Engineer I

Job Overview Designs truss components and truss repairs for MiTek customers and creatively solve engineering issues our customers have. Responsibilities Creatively design field repairs for truss components in accordance with acceptable engineering principles and judgment. Design truss components based on specified parameters from customers and use their knowledge of engineering and the building codes along with collaboration with other engineers in the office to ensure their designs protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Discuss design modifications and review appropriate design methodologies with customers. Assist, train and counsel customers in troubleshooting issues and design problems. Review results of the truss design software for accuracy and collaborate with other engineers and the software development team to determine how the software should function. Collaborate with engineers, architects and building officials on customer component design projects. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required. Up to 1 year of related experience required. Ability to perform technical skills including algebra, trigonometry, geometry, basic calculus, physics, statistics, strength of materials, and structural analysis. Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis. Ability to read and understand prints and schematics. Able to use Microsoft Office applications. Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) – Any State Board preferred. Interact professionally with co‑workers, vendors, and customers. Additional Requirements 5% domestic travel as necessary. Physical Demands This role is performed in an office environment where a computer, telephone, and other office equipment are used as needed to perform the duties of the role.
