Residential Outside Sales Representative

Direct Sales Rep Company: Cox Communications, Inc. Location: Newport News, VA. This is a residential sales position requiring door‑to‑door service. Schedule: Variable shift that includes evenings and weekends. Compensation Base salary range: $27,500 – $41,300. Target incentive/commission: $32,496. Sign‑on bonus: $2,000 for eligible external candidates or $1,000 for eligible internal candidates. Potential to earn up to $99,813 annually for high performers. Two‑month ramp‑up period with full commission. Winner’s Circle reward for top salespeople. Responsibilities Sell Cox data, video, and mobile services to residential customers while managing assigned territory. Generate new leads, sales, and upgrades through prospecting, referrals, partner relationships, and door‑to‑door canvassing. Create, deliver, and close face‑to‑face sales presentations assessing customer needs. Build relationships with homeowner associations, multi‑dwelling unit managers, leasing agents, and other stakeholders to generate sales. Assist in training new hires, collaborate with other departments, and partner with leadership to uncover growth opportunities. Work scheduled evenings and weekends to maximize customer contact. Maintain the highest ethical standards and follow company policy. Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or up to 2 years of relevant work experience. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record. Ability to obtain necessary certifications and licenses to sell Home Security per state and municipal laws. Proficiency with smartphone, iPad, and computer. Capacity to work outside in all weather conditions. Walk at least 1½ miles per day and navigate stairs within the territory. Carry an iPad with case and a light bag of marketing materials for 5+ hours daily. Preferred: Local market knowledge with established contacts. 1+ year of outside/field sales or door‑to‑door experience with quota requirements.
