Patient Registration Representative

BBSS Beyond Blue

Overview At UK King’s Daughters, the role is focused on ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient registration and billing data following the clinical encounter. The position requires expertise in reviewing, correcting, and submitting claims to support timely and accurate reimbursement, as well as coordination with patients, payers, and internal departments to resolve data errors and reduce denials. The successful candidate will contribute to process improvements, mentor staff, and support revenue cycle performance while maintaining compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards. Responsibilities Maintain a queue or worklist of accounts flagged for registration or billing follow‑up. Independently review and correct claims and charge errors rejected, denied, or suspended due to registration or data issues. Contact patients to collect or clarify workers’ compensation, accident, or insurance details, including claim numbers, employer, or authorization information. Document communications, track responses, and update patient account records with accuracy. Coordinate with employers, insurance carriers, attorneys, or adjusters to obtain required documentation. Verify and obtain subrogation or third‑party liability information to support accurate billing. Meet departmental KPIs for claim resolution, registration completeness, denial reduction, and accounts receivable performance. Collaborate with registration, billing, clinical, coding, and customer service teams to ensure seamless information flow. Provide feedback to frontline registration staff to reduce recurring data entry errors. Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance registration and billing accuracy. Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent. 2–3 years of experience in patient access, registration, billing, or revenue cycle operations. Equivalently combined education and experience may be considered; all experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part‑time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted. Certifications & Licensure N/A Physical Demands / Working Conditions Lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50lbs – intermittent (10–50%). Lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50lbs – never. Sitting at computer workstation for extended periods – intermittent (10–50%). Risk of back injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials – never. Repetitive motion (typing, data entry, scanning) – regular (>50% of time). Working at heights above 4 feet – never. Working in confined spaces – never. Risk of injuries from use of equipment on the job – rare. Job‑related travel – never to occasional. Loud noises – occasional ( Temperature extremes – never. Hazardous chemicals and fumes, including waste – occasional ( Radiation – occasional ( BURNS – never. Cuts/Punctures – never to occasional. Bloodborne/airborne pathogens – intermittent (10–50%). Recombinant DNA or viral vectors – never. Combative/violent people – intermittent (10–50%). Animal handling (including carcasses) – never. Exposure to communicable diseases – highlighted as a risk. High‑stress environment, frequent patient/family interactions, and potential exposure to traumatic situations.
