Summary The Northern Arizona VA Health Care System is seeking a highly energetic candidate to fill the Lead Medical Support Assistant. Located in the Prescott VA within HAS - Primary Care Department. The Lead Medical Support Assistant (MSA) is proficient in all appointment scheduling and consult functions. The Lead MSA provides administrative support and has overall responsibility for coordinating, directing a wide variety of administrative, technical and clinic support. Responsibilities VA Careers - Lead Medical Support Assistant: Support Assistant: vacareers.va.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/Total-Rewards-of-a-MSA-VA-Career-Flyer.pdfTypical duties include but are not limited to: Scheduling, canceling, re-scheduling patient's appointments and/or consults Entering no-show information Monitoring electronic wait lists Preparing for clinic visits Establishing and maintaining medical outpatient and inpatient charts as well as administrative records Monitoring both inpatient and outpatient appointments for areas of responsibility Obtaining medical information from patients Coordinating information and actions related to patient care and services Ensuring encounter forms are completed in order to obtain appropriate workload credit Verifying and updating demographics and insurance information Ensures that the Interdisciplinary Team setup (including consult category of care) is closely monitored to effectively support the needs of the VA clinics, and make any necessary adjustments. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs).Candidates must demonstrate the KSAs below: Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and a wide range of clinical flow processes relating to access to care across multiple clinics, specialties, and/or community. Skill in communicating with individuals to obtain the desired effect and coordinating with a variety of interdisciplinary care team staff. Ability to utilize numerous advanced patient systems in support of multiple clinics in an interdisciplinary setting. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and delegate tasks/responsibilities in order to meet deadlines. Ability to provide staff development and training. Ability to manage staffing requirements, manage workflow priorities, and adjust the flow of work to meet team and patient needs. This includes the ability to follow-up on pending issues and demonstrate an understanding of the impact of incomplete work across multiple clinics.
