Responsibilities As a Personal Lines Underwriter at Berkley One, you will evaluate and underwrite new business risks with a strong emphasis on profitable growth and relationship management. Risk Management Collaboration: Partner with risk management to assess exposures and recommend solutions that enhance the overall quality of the risk. Innovation and Process Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for innovation in underwriting practices and organizational priorities. Agent Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with a designated group of agents. Act as a trusted advisor by understanding their needs, coaching on solutions, and fostering loyalty to the Berkley One brand. Appetite Consultation: Educate agents on Berkley One’s risk appetite and guide them in applying this knowledge to appropriate risk selection. Technology Utilization: Use advanced underwriting tools and analytics to monitor portfolio quality and inform individual underwriting decisions. Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Distribution and Marketing teams to co‑develop strategies that drive business growth and enhance market presence. Other work as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) or equivalent professional experience Industry Experience: Minimum of two years of underwriting experience in high net worth personal lines. Customer‑Centric Mindset: Deep empathy for both insureds and agents and a passion for delivering an exceptional brand experience. Strong Communicator: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt style to different audiences and situations.
