Service Manager

Improve the general scope for the dealership's continued growth and improvement, keep customer satisfaction high, and keep employees on track and motivated. This position is responsible for processing payroll for the technicians and administrative paperwork as required. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned) 20% - Warranty paperwork and decisions 20% - Assist in dispatching repair orders 15% - Walk the shop to see if employees have questions or need direction 10% - Diagnose car problems 10% - Customer relations 10% - Payroll 10% - Make appointments, move cars, write up customers 5% - Create seasonal, promotional materials Supervisory Responsibilities: The Service Manager supervises a staff that includes Technicians and Advisors. Supervisory responsibilities include making hiring recommendations; making final hiring decisions; instructing and training in work methods; planning, scheduling and assigning work; checking and approving work; conducting performance evaluations; recommending salary adjustments; making effective recommendations regarding promotions, making final decisions on promotions; determining disciplinary actions regarding unsatisfactory employees; and making final decisions to terminate unsatisfactory employees. Associate’s degree in Business, Automotive technology certificate Valid New York State driver’s license and New York State inspector’s license Equivalent combinations of education and work experience will be considered. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Computer proficiency including word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and details simultaneously. Strong written and oral communication skills to interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers in a professional and helpful manner in person or via phone or written correspondence. Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-term goals. Ability to work productively in a fast-paced, stressful environment. Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative in meeting sales and revenue goals. Equipment, Machines And Software Used: This position requires the regular use of a computer, printer, copier, fax machine, telephone, scanner, calculator, power tools, hand tools, pallet jack. Computer Software: Interactive Network, Reynolds ERA, Microsoft Office to include Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel Safety Equipment: Safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, hard hat, gloves, respirator, mask. Physical and Mental Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, bend, or kneel. Close mental and visual attention required for controlling machines or processes at a rapid pace requiring close coordination and fine adjustment. Physical Exertion: Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
