Supervisor / Tractor Operator

Supervisor/Tractor Operator Location: Fort A.P. Hill, VA. Candidate must reside in the Bowling Green, VA area and be a U.S. citizen. Responsibilities Lead a team of 10 maintenance crew workers Be the primary point person for communication with Department Head Provide facilities maintenance support to service grounds and equipment Operate a variety of construction and heavy equipment Operate vegetation management equipment including mowers Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A Tractor/Mowing Machine Operator is responsible for managing and operating mowing equipment, typically in large-scale landscaping, agricultural, or municipal maintenance settings. The role includes inspecting equipment, performing routine maintenance, ensuring safety, recording work, adhering to environmental regulations, and managing schedules. Education & Experience High School Diploma preferred Two to five years of experience operating construction and heavy equipment Ability to work independently or as a team member on work orders Must be able to pass a background check to enter secure areas Valid Virginia Driver's license in good standing Additional Requirements Direct experience in a similar position and located in the Bowling Green, VA area Excellent attention to detail, customer service skills, strong work ethic, demonstrated leadership qualities Ability to work unsupervised and with a variety of people Position requires U.S. citizenship Background check: requires CAC card, CUI Enclave Access and/or a Security Clearance Physical Demands The physical demands are similar to a typical construction position. The employee will perform lifting and operating heavy equipment, work in positions such as kneeling, standing, bending, crouching, and stooping, and may lift, pull, or push parts up to 50 lbs or require assistance for heavier items. Work Environment Work is performed outdoors and may expose the employee to extreme heat or cold, inclement weather, noise, sun exposure, insects, and poisonous plants. Language & Communication Skills Candidate must be fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking) and be able to produce report writing.
