What You’ll Do: As a Registered Nurse (RN) at Friends Homes, you’ll play a key leadership role in overseeing and delivering compassionate, high-quality care to residents in a long-term care environment. You’ll help guide clinical staff, coordinate care, and ensure compliance with all standards while fostering a homelike and respectful atmosphere. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Direct, administer, and document resident care in accordance with physician orders and community policies Monitor and record resident progress and communicate with physicians and family members Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during rounds Coordinate and manage care provided by nursing staff and oversee CNAs Participate in admission assessments and resident care planning Maintain accurate records, Medication Administration Records (MARs), and treatment plans Respond to emergency and health-related calls from residents Participate in on-call rotation and provide coverage when needed Supervise and assist with orientation and ongoing training of nursing personnel Provide in-service education and promote professional development Support resident rights and dignity in every interaction Ensure compliance with infection control, OBRA, OSHA, and HIPAA standards Use and manage medical equipment and electronic records systems, including PIXIS Participate in quality improvement initiatives and committee work as needed (e.g., QAPI, safety) Requirements: Required: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina Current CPR certification (must meet American Heart Association standards or equivalent) Experience with geriatric or long-term care residents Strong clinical judgment and documentation skills Ability to lead a team and manage multiple priorities Physical ability to assist with resident transfers and emergency care Preferred: Experience working in a Life Plan Community or similar senior care environment Familiarity with the Household Model of care and person-centered practices Physical & Environmental Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently; assist with resident transfers Frequent bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, and standing for extended periods Use of various medical and office equipment throughout the shift Work is 100% indoors with a focus on resident-centered care Exposure risk: Category I/II – Direct contact with blood or other bodily fluids may occur Requires excellent communication, sensory, and cognitive abilities Friends Homes is a non-profit organization that is focused on achieving its mission.
